September sees the 50th anniversary of both the X-Men and the Avengers, and the thus the latest in my 50-for-50 series. Forgive me if I cheated a little -- the idea of doing *two* drawings featuring 50 characters in the same month was a little overwhelming, and so I chose to combine the two teams. I also figured that this was fitting, given the current state of merging the teams are undergoing in the Marvel Universe at the moment.
As the combined rosters of the two teams came to nearly 200 characters, though, I also decided to enlist the help of many friends and fellow deviants, getting their input as to who should be included. Certain characters were a given -- the original rosters of both teams, obviously, as well as certain characters like Captain America who are inherently linked with the teams. The rest were open game and it made for a really interesting exercise as to who got included and who didn't. Special thanks goes out to the following people for helping me out with this:
as well as Jim Brenan, Don Walsh, Mick Swinarski, Curtis Ouderkirk, Kyle Bordage, & Steve Sycuro. Thanks for making it fun and interesting, guys! Hopefully your favourites made the final cut. If not, you have each other to blame
X-Men & Avengers are owned by Marvel Comics, which is in turn owned by Disney. I'm not making that up.
